Raindrops and Tears
Mystical Black Rose
She marveled across the deserted corridors probably running, hurriedly searched for a secluded refuge where tears were free to fall, where she would be free to think.
“Baby, I love you and I will never lie to you.”
His words echoed in her aching heart but the reminisced memory didn’t help at all. It didn’t stop the tears now starting to roll down on her cheeks.
“Baby, please trust me”
What does he know about trust? More memories flashed back but more tears ebbed down. Words that used to assure her now became words that are filled with mayhem. They are now the exact words that made those tears roll down.
She finally found a spot and poured her out, cried her pain and comforted her aching heart. She was alone. She never felt so much alone in her life. Her gloomy heart mirrored the dark clouds that started to blot the sunny sky.
Beep..Beep..
“Hey Baby, sorry for the late reply.. juz woke up.. had fun last night.. tnx.. mwah.. luv u3” Sender: MAE
Then she remembered the reason for her tears, she remembered her trust and SHE REMEMBERED HIM. Her mind wandered off. She couldn’t think anymore. She was lost.
“Hello Baby? Paul?”
She realized it too late. It was her. It was Mae, “the other girl”. Unintentionally, she answered the call. It was just to bring her back to reality.
Just as she was about to speak, the bell rang and students soon emerged in the corridors. The call ended. She failed. There was still something that’s saving her from misery. Fate might have saved her from further misery, hearing more lies. She wiped her tears and fused with the crowd. She acted ordinarily, she acted normal. She attempted to divert her attention, to just let it pass again. She wanted to just let it fall to nothingness, to pretend she didn’t exist but just then Paul appeared and reality slapped her right then and there. Her knees began to shake. She wanted to ask him but was afraid of what she might hear. She turned away from him to hide her tears or rather to at least save a little of her pride just to save her sanity.
“Rain, I think I left my cellphone in your bag. Wanna have lunch now baby? I’m starving!”
She heard him amidst the noise enveloping her. She heard him, faced him despite instructing her heart not to.
“Rain? Baby? What’s wrong?”
And she heard him too close, too close that she felt him embrace her. She wanted so much to melt on his broad shoulders. Their digits still fitted so comfortably that made her heart sank even more. Did he ever notice how cold her palms were? Did he ever notice those tears escaping from her deceitful eyes? Probably he didn’t. He never paid attention to the little details she was trying to uncover.
The pain was killing her softly but still she managed to stay up concealing the most painful thing. She was still hoping everything would just turn out to be a bad dream.
“Hi Baby!” she said
She kissed him on the cheek and this time he began to feel vaguely the distance that has now existed.
“Baby, Anything wrong?” he asked.
She just smiled back. She was holding back everything. She was trying to decipher the right words her heart wanted to speak and at the same time she was preparing herself for his reply.
“Did you go out with Mae again?” after a long silence she said it at last in a calm sigh as if it was nothing, as if she knew it’s never true but her heart tells her otherwise.
When silence came, she felt him jerk a bit probably taken aback by the speculation or rather taken aback that he was caught too soon. She voluntarily freed his hand that was locked with hers. She was afraid to feel something she didn’t want to feel.
“Baby, please… We already talked about this… Please trust me” He said but avoiding her eyes.
“Trust” it echoed. Memories flashed back. The messages on his cellphone all came clear.
“Mae, please trust me. I Love you, Baby”
Those words, those carelessly stabbing words remained suspended and her mind suddenly stopped wandering to the past, to what she read and instead focused on one, on him. Her fears dissolved and anger soon came in. Unknowingly anger took over her and it unconsciously made her throw the cellphone at him like it was possessed of something evil. It was where his lies were found. After hearing the smashing sound, she ran away like a scared little child aware of the misdemeanor so anticipating punishment or probably she ran away after creating such outlet of anger so as to maybe make him run after her.
She ran so fast farther as she can ‘til she got tired and became so afraid to look back, afraid that she might not find him there. She found herself walking under the drizzling rain and was felt relieved as it continued to pour down. Her tears were finally concealed. Then, she felt something vibrate and her heart began to pound fast. She was hesitant but still took it out.
Mae Calling….
MAE WAS CALLING
Her world collapse and instinctively she turned around. Her heart leapt upon finding him trailing her behind. She saw Paul.
But then she remembered the last message Paul sent to Mae
“I love you baby, my miracle, Happy Anniversary. Thank you for trusting me and I will never dare lie to you”
She felt her heart break into pieces.
She then remembered the bittersweet fall of reality that after all the drama. She was “the other girl”
She saw Paul. He was soaking wet. She wished it was tears that she saw on his face. It was just after all the rain.
“Rain.. Baby, please let’s talk”
She remembered Paul, his lies, his cellphone vibrating and her cellphone she stupidly threw at him instead.
She was the other girl, the undeniably third wheel.
She smashed her cellphone when she should have smashed his.
She was soaking wet, and her tears kept her warm
She saw him. He broke her heart.
She saw Paul. She looked into his eyes and found the lies
